The Journey Begins
Richard’s experience with playing cards goes back to the early 2000’s.
On a weekend trip to sunny Brighton, in a hotel corridor, Richard witnessed a moment of pure wonder. A friend of a friend asked him to pick a playing card, it was then shuffled back into the pack and somehow the trickster instantly revealed his chosen card.
As a result, he was hooked and bought a book on card tricks, a packet of Bicycle Playing Cards and began his journey into performing Close Up Magic.
The Magic Circle is an organisation for professional magicians and is renowned for its high standards and commitment to advancing the art of magic.
In December 2023, Richard performed his skills in sleight of hand to a panel of examiners and an audience of existing members. As a result, this performance demonstrated his proficiency but also highlighted his understanding of the various principles behind magic effects.

Richard takes part in the Mercury Theatre Adult Company in Colchester.
Performing alongside this talented group is always an incredible learning experience for Richard.
Where Richard performs
Richard lives in Essex and performs at 100’s of local wedding venues.
Richard also performs in Cambridgeshire, Chelmsford, Colchester, Ipswich, Norwich and all the places in between.
Growing up in Surrey, where his interest in close up magic began, Richard still takes a lot of bookings in the surrounding areas.
A lot of Richard’s corporate bookings and clients are based in London.
